1. Create Original Content
Post your own original content and try to make it useful to those you share it with, encouraging them to interact with you.
2. Don’t Steal from Others
Digital content may be intangible but as IP it will be owned by somebody. To copy it and present it as yours is not only unethical, it could well be illegal too.
3. Be Upfront and Honest
If your aim is to promote your brand don’t pretend otherwise to your followers – be straight with them and they’ll respect you being so.
4. Keep Your Posts Quick and Simple
Be brief and try to get your point across quickly, making it easier for your followers to share your content with others.
5. Don’t be Self-Centred
You’ll gain more followers if you’re seen to share positive information about other companies’ brands as well as your own.
6. Review before you Post
Once a post is out there, it’s out there for good. Or for bad, if you say something inappropriate in haste. Consider the possible consequences before you publish.
7. Post Regularly
Keep your brand visible by interacting with others as often as you can – many times a day if possible.
8. Be Respectful to Criticism
Don’t ignore negative comments – instead, reply to them in a respectful and understanding manner and turn a negative situation into a positive one.
9. Respond Quickly
Show your customers that their views are taken very seriously by responding quickly and efficiently to their messages or comments.
10. Share and Share Alike
Share links sent to you at every opportunity to build relationships with the senders and encourage their sharing of your posts in turn.
